We develop the strategy, then respond reactively. As leaders, how often does this happen? After a while, we look up from the day-to-day and realize our structures, processes, and people may be speaking to multiple truths about who we are as an organization.
What. Gut. So What. Now What.
This is normally how humans process information to make decisions.
Observe. What? What happened?
Reflect. Gut. What did we learn from it?
Interpret. So What. How will it inform how we respond?
Decide. Now What. Now what decisions will we make moving forward?
Most strategic planning processes jump directly from the O to the D.
From what they believe are problem, to solutions they believe will solve them, skipping over the insights that bring clarity and awareness of opportunities.
The Align Roadmap on the other hand, walks through the entire ORID Process, understanding that where we have been is just as important to where we want to be as the actions we take or any strategies we develop.
And with the right voices in the room, opportunities are endless.
